Franklin County Senior Centers Serving As Cooling Stations For Older Residents

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – With the heat index expected to near 100 degrees early next week, the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging will offer extended hours at three of its senior centers to provide older residents refuge from the heat.
These locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:
- Chambersburg: 600 Norland Ave., Suite 11, Chambersburg
- Greencastle: 10615 Antrim Church Road, Greencastle
- Tuscarora: 11300 Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg
Older residents are also invited to cool off at the county’s other senior centers during normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- Mont Alto: 517 S. Main St., Mont Alto; open Monday-Friday
- Path Valley: 20344 School Road, Dry Run; open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- St. Thomas: 6444 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas; open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
- Upper Strasburg: 9843 Community Road, Upper Strasburg; open Monday-Friday
- Waynesboro: 11359 Anthony Highway, Waynesboro; open Monday-Friday
Staff will continue to monitor weather conditions and will make decisions regarding additional extended hours as soon as possible.
