Residents Urged To Share Feedback On Future Of Franklin County

Planning

May 18, 2026

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners are encouraging residents and community stakeholders to share their thoughts on the county’s future and community needs as Franklin County enters the second phase of implementing its 10-year comprehensive plan.

A comprehensive plan guides countywide land use policy and must be updated every 10 years under Pennsylvania law. Franklin County’s comprehensive plan, known as Imagine Franklin 2035, was adopted in September 2023 and serves as a blueprint for long-term goals that address emerging opportunities and build upon existing community assets.

Since the plan’s adoption, county officials have prioritized realistic, actionable steps that address current community needs, organizing implementation into three three-year phases. Staff from the county’s planning department are developing the next three-year phase and are seeking public input to shape Franklin County’s future.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to complete an online survey at https://bit.ly/4tyrLAo to share their thoughts on a variety of topics, including transportation, housing, farmland preservation and other land use considerations. Feedback is critical in identifying priorities and next steps in the continued implementation of Imagine Franklin 2035.

“Input doesn’t stop at plan adoption,” said Quentin Clapper, director of Franklin County’s Planning Department. “Ongoing community feedback is a crucial part of working collaboratively to address the most pressing issues and concerns of residents and stakeholders.”

The survey will remain open through July 2. Paper copies of the survey are also available by contacting the Franklin County Planning Department.
