Residents Encouraged To Share Input On Franklin County Transportation Needs
FCMPO, Planning
July 09, 2026
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Metropolitan Planning Organization (FCMPO) is seeking public feedback as it works to establish transportation goals and priorities to meet residents’ needs over the next two decades. Those objectives will be integrated into Franklin County’s Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), which will provide the framework for making transportation decisions that support the county’s vision for the future.
Residents, stakeholders and anyone who commutes through Franklin County are invited to share their thoughts and feedback via an online survey on the county’s LRTP website, https://bit.ly/FCLRTPpublicengagement, until Aug. 31. The survey’s interactive features allow participants to identify areas of concern, including specific locations where congestion, safety, bicycle and pedestrian challenges, and other transportation issues need to be addressed.
“Through this survey, our residents have an opportunity to share meaningful insight into Franklin County’s greatest areas of need related to transportation,” said Quentin Clapper, Franklin County planning director. “We want to hear from everyone who utilizes our local transportation system. Through this collaborative effort, we can define our region’s specific needs, shape policies and develop projects that reflect a shared goal for the future of Franklin County’s transportation network.”
In addition to the survey, the public can also share their thoughts on Franklin County’s transportation needs at several upcoming “pop-up” community events. Staff from the county’s planning department will be at the Franklin County Fair from 5-7 p.m. July 10 to discuss the LRTP update. Details of additional community outreach events will be added to the website as they become available.
The FCMPO, the decision-making body for Franklin County’s federally funded transportation projects and programs, will utilize public feedback from the survey and community outreach efforts to finalize its priorities and spending plan through 2050. The FCMPO is leading the transportation plan update, in cooperation with PennDOT and with technical assistance from Larson Design Group.
