Applications For 2026 Franklin County Nursing Scholarship Now Available

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners are pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 Franklin County Nursing Scholarship are now available. 

The scholarship program provides financial assistance to Franklin County high school seniors who have been accepted into an accredited nursing program. Up to six one-time scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded to local students. This will be the final year for the scholarship program. 

“Committing your life to helping others is a noble goal, and we need more individuals to step up to the task, especially in our area,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dean Horst. “Our hope is that this scholarship program will not only enable our students to pursue a career in nursing but will also encourage them to launch that career here in their own community.” 

Applicants must submit an essay, briefly indicating short- and long-term goals pertaining to nursing school, along with a scholarship application, an official high school transcript and three letters of reference, including one from their high school guidance counselor. Students must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA, participate in both extracurricular and community service activities, and demonstrate a financial need for the scholarship. 

Recipients will be determined by a committee of local healthcare professionals and Franklin County representatives. Winners will be announced during their schools’ scholarship ceremonies and will also be recognized during a Franklin County Commissioners’ meeting. Funds are directly paid to the recipients’ respective academic institutions. 

Scholarship instructions and applications are available on the Franklin County website at www.franklincountypa.gov/apply-file-for. All applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. March 27.
