Commissioners
May 30, 2025

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the May Employee of the Month award to Veronica Brestensky during the board’s May 28 public meeting. Brestensky has been employed by Franklin County since October 2023 and serves as chief deputy district attorney with the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office.
May’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received 22 nominations for the May award, four of which were for Brestensky.
“Veronica is the epitome of dedicated to her job,” said one nomination form. “She goes above and beyond to represent the commonwealth and keep things fair for everyone. She is the first one to jump up when someone needs help and is a true delight to work with.”
Another coworker said, “I’m nominating Veronica because since the day Veronica has blessed us with her presence here in Franklin County, she has been a work horse. I also have the privilege of working with Veronica on the STOP (Services, Training, Officers and Prosecutors) committee. Veronica is truly one of a kind. The District Attorney’s Office is blessed to have her!”
“Attorney Brestensky, like all of the district attorneys, is carrying a hefty case load,” stated one nomination form. “Despite the amount of work she is handling, she remains very communicative and follows through on inquiries and requests in a timely manner, and always, without fail, treats those around her with kindness, respect and compassion. While all of the attorneys in the DA’s office deserve to be commended for their commitment and hard work, attorney Brestensky stands out amongst the others.”
“It would be impossible to pick just one event or occurrence because Veronica does every part of her job so well,” said another employee. “Veronica deals with some of the most difficult victims as she does most of the domestic violence cases, and she always handles them with respect and patience. Not only does she handle her own cases, but she can constantly be seen pitching in to help her coworkers.”
Brestensky’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. Those who work alongside Brestensky described her as dedicated, team oriented, patient, understanding, responsive, compassionate and helpful.
The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Brestensky on her recognition and thanked her for her excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
