Franklin County Adds Snider’s Elevator As Authorized Dog License Agent

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Franklin County Treasurer Lisa Helm is pleased to announce Snider’s Elevator Inc., Mercersburg, is now an authorized dog license agent.

As an authorized agent, the feed store located at 4551 Lemar Road, Mercersburg, joins other businesses across the commonwealth in selling annual dog licenses to residents. Because of its location, Snider’s Elevator may be a more convenient option for those living in western Franklin County who cannot visit the Franklin County Treasurer’s Office in Chambersburg during normal business hours to purchase their dog licenses.

“I was pleased when Snider’s reached out with a desire to partner with my office,” said Helm. “They already do an amazing job supporting the local community and animal owners. Dog license sales fit nicely into their current services and merchandise.”

Snider’s Elevator is one of five authorized agents in Franklin County. The other agents are:

  • Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro;
  • Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road W., Chambersburg;
  • Franklin Hardware and Pet Center, 1975 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg; and
  • Farmers Union Co-Op Inc., 30 E. Walter Ave., Greencastle

Pennsylvania law requires all dogs to be licensed at the time of purchase or adoption or at 3 months of age, whichever comes first. An annual license is valid from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, regardless of the month it was purchased, and a new license should be purchased by Jan. 1 each year. A lifetime license is good for the life of the dog. Dog owners can purchase an annual license through their county’s treasurer’s office, through an authorized agent or online at www.padoglicense.com. Lifetime licenses must be purchased directly through the county treasurer’s office either in person or by mail.
