Franklin County Extends Hours At Two Senior Centers To Serve As Cooling Stations

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – With the heat index expected to reach 100 degrees and higher this week, the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging will offer extended hours at two of its senior activity centers to provide older residents refuge from the heat.
These locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday:
- Chambersburg: 2593 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg
- Greencastle: 10615 Antrim Church Road, Greencastle
Older residents are also invited to cool off at the county’s other senior centers during normal operating hours. Centers are open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
- Mont Alto: 517 S. Main St., Mont Alto
- Path Valley: 20344 School Road, Dry Run; closed Wednesdays
- St. Thomas: 6444 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas; closed Mondays and Fridays
- Tuscarora: 11300 Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg
- Upper Strasburg: 9843 Community Road, Upper Strasburg
- Waynesboro: 11359 Anthony Highway, Waynesboro
Staff will continue monitoring weather conditions and will communicate decisions regarding additional extended hours, if necessary, as soon as possible.
