Franklin County Receives $48,000 Donation To Benefit Area Senior Centers
Area Agency on Aging
March 05, 2026
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – On Wednesday, the Franklin County Commissioners accepted a $48,000 contribution from PA Health and Wellness to support programming at each of the county’s eight senior activity centers.
The donation will be utilized to update senior center equipment, continue centers’ paint and pottery classes, purchase bingo prizes, and offer Older Americans’ Month events and activities in May.
“We are grateful to PA Health and Wellness for this donation,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dean Horst. “With the financial challenges and budgetary hurdles counties face each year, we appreciate any contribution that allows us to better serve our residents, including our seniors.”
PA Health and Wellness began working with Franklin County’s Area Agency on Aging in early 2024 and now provides programing at all eight senior centers.
“At PA Health and Wellness, we value our senior center partners,” said Kay Gore, PA Health and Wellness senior manager of community engagement. “Centers like those in Franklin County provide a place for people to learn, have fun and be part of the community at large. Without programs like these, our seniors run the risk of becoming socially isolated, which can contribute to health-related issues.”
