Open House To Focus On Franklin County’s Future Transportation Needs

FCMPO

October 06, 2026

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Metropolitan Planning Organization (FCMPO) invites residents and stakeholders to provide feedback on the county’s transportation goals and priorities by attending an open house, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Franklin County Administrative Building, 272 N. Second St., Chambersburg.

Representatives from Larson Design Group along with staff from the Franklin County Planning Department will discuss the results of the county’s recent transportation needs survey. The public is invited to share additional input as the FCMPO works to establish transportation goals and priorities to meet residents’ needs over the next two decades. Those objectives will be integrated into Franklin County’s 2050 Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), which will guide future transportation decisions aligned with the county’s vision for the future.

“This plan is meant to be a practical roadmap for building a transportation system that truly reflects Franklin County – one that strengthens our connections, supports how we live and move every day, and helps set our region up for a strong future,” said Franklin County Planning Director Quentin Clapper. “Throughout this process, hearing directly from the people who use our roads, trails and transit options has been essential. The public’s feedback helps us understand what matters most so we can set the right priorities and shape a transportation network that remains safe, reliable and user friendly for years to come.”

Additional information on the LRTP update process is available on the county’s LRTP dashboard, https://bit.ly/FCLRTP2050.

The FCMPO, the decision-making body for Franklin County’s federally funded transportation projects and programs, is leading the transportation plan update, in cooperation with PennDOT and with technical consulting assistance from Larson Design Group. A steering committing of representatives from transportation agencies and other stakeholders across Franklin County is guiding the LRTP project. When completed, the LRTP will serve as the transportation element of the county’s 10-year comprehensive plan, Imagine Franklin 2035, and will outline specific transportation priorities to help the county plan in the future.
